Metal and glass products: choosing filming, AI or 3D

Highlights and refractions can make an image attractive while still describing the product incorrectly. Begin by separating atmosphere from information that must be physically accurate.

List the details the viewer needs to trust

Shape, edges, transparency, surface finish and operating details may need approved samples or technical references. A conceptual background can allow more freedom than a close-up intended to explain the product.

Compare methods using the same difficult angle or movement. A sample that avoids the reflective surface tells you little about whether the final shot will work.

Give live action the preparation it needs too

Filming still requires suitable samples, clean surfaces, controlled reflections and appropriate lighting. Choosing a camera does not remove the need for reference and review.

Use a common checklist when comparing tests: product identity, material appearance, motion, continuity and the scope for revision. Judge the final images against the approved reference, rather than choosing whichever test looks most dramatic in isolation.
